The Ballston Ragg Socks, crew and quarter, are my favorite comfortable socks (no itch, nonbinding, moisture wicking). I purchased the well-made quarter ragg socks for year-round wear and, of course, I love them.
Lastly, I noticed the larger sizes tend to sell out quickly, so don't hesitate to stock up!

I’ve been buying these socks for years. I like the short crew style because it stays up and does not bind my ankles, not to mention that they are warm and cozy. I wear them mostly around the house on cold days and always keep a pair handy to put on if my feet are cold before going to sleep. My daughter loves them also. I just sent her a fresh pack of three and she is so delighted. She likes to use them like slippers socks in her carpeted apartment.

Worn for hot weather hikes. Has the low top I like, and can be further rolled down. Absorbs perspiration, washes well, and is a good thickness. So it’s a winner.

great socks, wash in cold water well, cushioning. They do what socks are supposed to do and they are not 20 dollars a pair like the Smartwool stuff at REI. REI needs to sell your socks.

These are really nice. I bought these for a relative who has diabetes and suffers from swollen feet. These rag wool socks are more form fitting but not tight. They do not restrict circulation like some socks do with too much elastic at the top or poor sizing/shape. Ballston hits another home run with this sock option. My relative loves these socks and finds them very warm and extremely comfortable.

These socks are great. Although they're light in the feel, they keep my feet warm and dry. For some reason, this blend of wool doesn't feel itchy for me like other blends can. I'd like to order a few more pairs. I guess the only thing I would change on these lower-length socks, is to make them just about once inch higher. And more colors...would like them in a tan blend as well. Thanks :)

I have SO many pairs of these quarter crew rag wool socks and I love them. I have thick calves and the short height means they do not cut off my circulation. I give all my previous purchases 5 starts! Unfortunately, the last set I ordered were all poorly finished. The edges at the top of the socks have loose threads and loops of yarn that look like live stitches. They did not unravel in the first wash, so maybe it's just aesthetics. The seams across the toe of the sock are heavy and rub the sides of both my big and little toe. In a shoe or boot, this could be a problem.

I like the ankle cut height. They come up high enough to keep you warm and do not slip down. Full length wool socks are sometimes too high which make them difficult to put on. Also, I wear a 12.5 shoe and the XL size 12-14 is perfect.

This is the fourth time I’ve purchased a package of these socks. They have become my favorites for both hiking and lounging around the house because they are warm and durable.
