Have had the next heavier weight for years, wanted a weight more suitable for every day. These work for that.
Pros: Very comfortable; air dry quickly after the spin cycle; good length and toe/heel fit. My others have been very durable.
Cons: The top elastic is too tight and I don't have fat legs. Would like to have some with no elastic at all. The coloration of the two different weight socks is identical - maybe use a different color for the "Ballston" on the toe? They are hard to tell apart coming out of the wash and even after drying.

Ordered balston socks cause my husband likes them and my smartwools are stupid expensive. I like them, I'd like them more if they actually made a women's and mens. A woman's with room for bigger calves and colors! I don't want socks that look exactly like hubby's. Give us some choices.

These are great hiking socks and a good value. I wear a 9.5 shoe and the large is a little loose but fine. I was hoping to replace some thin wool Ballston socks I bought years ago for bicycling but those have been discontinued. I'll wear these new ones when I hike in the fall.

My size 11 1/2 petty wide feet find these light weight socks very comfortable. My feet sweat lots, and this wool is comfy and drying, and never itchy.
I've been using them daily for about 2 years now (since LL Bean raised their price on their merino wool socks). These wear like iron, wash easily (hang dried of course), and have a nice cushion. I prefer them to my LL Bean socks. I have a few medium weight pair for my hiking boots. Again, excellent! Consistency has also been 100% over the pairs I've bought over these years. Great product!

I purchased the XL heavy wool socks a few years ago, and had a good experience. My wife was in need of a lighter wool sock to replace some from Costco, so I suggested the light Ballston wool sock. Ballston is my preferred wool sock. I have them in all three weights. Light, medium and heavy depending on the footwear and temperature. You cannot beat the quality and they are Made in USA!! These lightweight versions are good for boot manufactures that use a tighter last and a heavier sock is too thick.

These socks seem to be nice quality. However for me, they were a little on the itchy side. I think it was just because I'm sensitive. I'd like to exchange them for another type of socks you make that I like better (the rag socks). However I didn't think there would be a problem, so I didn't keep the tags or packing material.
